Moderation and Prohibited-Content Policy

What we remove, how reports are handled, and how decisions get made.

Last updated 12 August 2026.

Scope and principles

This policy covers reviews, replies, profile text, display names, logos, links, review invitations and evidence. RankRack applies legality, safety, authenticity, relevance, privacy, fairness, proportionality and viewpoint neutrality. Moderation does not decide every underlying commercial dispute; it decides whether content may remain under these rules and applicable law. Publication is immediate and moderation acts after the fact, never as a gate in front of it.

Reporting and handling

Report a review with the Report this review control shown on the review itself: sign in, then say what is wrong with it. Report anything else, or anything urgent, to [email protected] with a link and an explanation.

A report joins the review's entry in the moderation queue, with the reported version preserved, and is decided by the same person with the same controls as an automated flag.

The queue is ordered by the page's plan tier and then by age, oldest first within each tier. Paid priority moderation affects how soon a person looks at an item and nothing about what they decide.

The decision is between leaving the content published and removing it, with the reason recorded. When a review is removed the reviewer is told the reason and can appeal from their portal. Serious or repeated misuse can lead to the account being disabled; the worst outcome for a provider page is a public warning.

Every decision records the reason, the flag it decided and who made it, in an internal log of staff actions kept on the schedule in the Privacy Policy.

Illegal-content and platform-law safeguards

RankRack maintains an easy notice mechanism - the Report control and [email protected] - acts diligently when it obtains sufficiently specific knowledge of illegal content, and gives reasoned decisions with appeal routes. We keep our duties under the UK Online Safety Act 2023 under review as the service grows and will meet the assessment, systems and reporting obligations that apply to it; for EU recipients we will meet Digital Services Act obligations where they apply, including notice-and-action and statements of reasons.

Automation and quality

Automated checks flag patterns for a person to read: a new account posting an extreme rating, bursts of reviews, invitation mismatches, near-duplicate text and reposts after a deletion. Every signal states why it fired, and no automated signal removes or alters anything - a person decides every flag. We do not correlate network addresses or use third-party scoring. A staff account with a declared connection to a provider is recused from decisions about it, as published on the transparency page, and every moderation action is logged.
